Cape Aloe ferox granules/chips used in medicinal preparations and in animal feeds.
Cape Aloe ferox chips/granules are manufactured from the sap of the Aloe ferox plant. The sap is extracted from the plant and then boiled to remove impurities. The boiled sap is then poured into tins and left to cool down and solidify. The solidified sap is then mechanically broken up into small chips/granules. Cape Aloe ferox solids has two variants with an aloin(barbaloin) content of 10 - 18%(Port Elizabeth Aloe) or with an aloin(barbaloin) content of 18 - 24% (Mossel Bay Aloe). This variation in aloin content is due mainly to the region in which the Aloe ferox plants grow
